As you drive down Jenny Gulch Road, you'll notice a series of ponds on your left. These were all crafted by our local engineers, the beavers. Besides making dams of the trees, beavers also eat bark. If you look closely, you can see the remnants of their years of nourishing themselves. Stop and examine the incredible dams if you like. Maybe you'll even see one of the little guys swimming in the pond. A family of ducks lives here in the summer, also.

What lies on the other side of the hill? In this case, a spectacular view. This road is within walking distance of Jenny Gulch B&B and is just waiting for you to explore it, whether on foot or via bicycle. To the right is the Kelly Gulch drainage and Rapid Creek. To the left, Jenny Gulch. If you find just the right spot to peek through the trees, you can spot your meadow below to the left.

Look
to your right, and this is what you'll see, only it's so much better in
person. Looking at this photo, you can't feel the breezes or smell the
scent of the forest. The Black Hills are full of gorgeous views, tempting
you to peek over the next hill. |

If the low roads tempt you more, you might like this birch-lined path. It runs by a wetland area and every spring it fosters rampant growth. I love this road. It feels like some secret and ancient trail through a forgotten woodland. Few of these roads are open to motor vehicle traffic, and only on Jenny Gulch Road are you likely to meet any fellow travellers. |
