Your Hideaway in the Black Hills

Panoramic View

Two roads diverged in the woods and I,
I chose the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Here in the Black Hills, we prefer to take things slowly. The trees go on growing, whether we notice them or not. Coyotes will sing, even if we're not listening. What a shame to miss even a moment of the beauty of this wild and magical place. Jenny Gulch Bed and Breakfast is perfectly located to allow you to enjoy the Black Hills at their best. Nestled deep in the embrace of the beautiful Black Hills National Forest, with miles and miles of trails for you to discover, this is the place to be whether you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, or just wandering in the woods.

Log Bench
Relax on the log bench outside your windows and breathe in the scent of the meadow. Bundle up your fly fishing gear and take the short drive down to Rapid Creek in search of rainbow and brown trout. Launch your kayak, bass boat, or even your ski boat onto nearby Pactola or Sheridan Lake for a day on the water. No boat? Pack up your picnic and head for the beaches for some swimming and splashing and fun. Unload your mountain bike or put on your hiking boots and head for the Centennial Trail's nearby Deer Creek trailhead or one of the many other nearby trails.

Jenny Gulch Bed and Breakfast offers central access to many Black Hills attractions. To the south, you'll encounter first Pactola, then Sheridan Lake. Beyond the lakes lies the historic and artistic town of Hill City with its many galleries, gift shops, and the world famous T-Rex, "Stan". Just past Hill City, you'll find the exit to Mount Rushmore and its accompanying town of Keystone via an incredible mountain road. Beyond the Mt. Rushmore exit by ten minutes or so, you'll encounter Crazy Horse Monument with its museums and gift shops. Another five minutes will get you to more shopping in Custer City, along with access to Jewel Cave to the west and Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park to the east, both of which boast abundant hiking and wildlife-watching opportunities. A few miles past Wind Cave, you'll find Hot Springs, home of the Mamoth Site museum as well as Evan's Plunge and numerous natural hot springs.

Should your fancy take you to the north, you'll have the opportunity to visit the historic town of Mystic, which is home to a Centennial Trail trailhead. Or skip that sidetrip and head directly to Deadwood for great museums, good food, a little music, a little gaming, and a lot of fun. From Deadwood, you could go to Sturgis for the annual motorcycle rally. Or, if you prefer, you can head for Spearfish to shop the town, wander the canyon, visit Roughlock Falls, and explore the filming location of the "Dances With Wolves" winter camp. If mining interests you, a visit to Lead and the Homestake Mine's "Open Cut" and mining museum might be in order.
Entry Gate

Should you decide to head east, twenty minutes will get you to Rapid City, the shopping hub of the four-state region. There, you'll find all the necessities of everyday life, a good choice of restaurants, a number of excellent gift shops, and the Journey Museum, home of the extensive Duhamel collection of Native American and early western artifacts.

With all the great things to see and do in the Black Hills, we still find that there's no place like home. After a long and exciting day, what a welcome pleasure to come home to your pleasant, cool and quiet hideaway to watch the day say goodnight, listen to the frogs singing around the pond, feel the evening breeze, and watch the aspen leaves flutter in the blue twilight. You can enjoy an evening cup of tea or coffee, slip into your comfy log bed, and dream of the day to come.

Jenny Gulch is a completely tobacco and alcohol-free establishment. We're sorry for any inconvenience, but we do not allow smoking either in the room or outside on the property. The U.S. Forest Service recommends that people refrain from smoking in the surrounding woodlands as well, due to fire safety issues.
